Much of Keran's life was arranged for him before he was born, as is common for the heirs of Sarrca. He was the first of six sons, all of whom learned politics, languages, histories of, Sarrca, Korin, and all of Eire. The past conflicts of Korin's many houses were child's play for Keran and his brothers, along with every conflict in which Sarrca had been sought out and every campaign Sarrca had chosen to support.

It was drilled into Keran's head from a very young age that he was disposable. If he made a single mistake, there were his two brothers, either of which could take his place. If he died, he would of course be mourned, but he would also be replaced. Keran's father meant this as a demonstration of why Keran needed to distinguish himself as something special, something above and beyond, and Keran strove to do just that. Languages became child's play, he mastered swords with ease, and while his relationship with his brothers developed into an admittedly friendly rivalry, there was never any doubt that Keran would deserve exactly what he inherited.

He married a young woman, Lynette of House Orach, whom he'd been betrothed to since he was six years old. By the time he was twenty-five, he'd had his first son, a young boy named Aiden who looked just like his father. Shortly after Aiden's birth, Keran's father died, and he ascended into the lordship of Sarrca without the bat of an eye from anyone in the house. His brothers sought their own wives and homes, but each died before they could acquire them. Sebastian died of illness in the dead of Korin winter. Mercutio and William died while on a hunt together, found gored, probably by a bear. Jeremiah's heart simply stopped working in his sleep, and Michael was said to have committed suicide.

Being Lord of Sarrca was surprisingly more peaceful than he expected, though Keran never let anything happen in Korin without his notice. When rumors of Edgard's heir began circling Rayla, he knew, just as he knew when she returned at last to Korin. When the hostilities between Keir and Sylea escalated, he made a guess at the Keir heirs' death before it ever happened, though the daughter being spared was an oversight he hadn't especially expected. Spies with Sarrcan loyalties had been roaming Korin since ages before Keran took the lordship, and they reported to him just as loyally as they'd reported to his father. It did, however, become increasingly rare for there to be any part of Korin without one of his spies in it, keeping an eye on things.

He has fathered two more children: a girl, currently four, named Rosaline (whom he affectionately calls Rosie) and a second son, no more than a baby, Devon.

Aiden had only just turned seven when first Keir approached Keran, seeking his help in the conflicts that were taking place between their house and Sylea. And then Sylea approached him as well, and Keran had to make a choice.

Of course, the choice had already been long-since made.

Ambition is the word most commonly used to describe Keran. He seems to always know exactly what he wants and exactly how to get it, and doesn't seem to have a care in the world for whether other people get in his way and, more than once, has used those very people to his advantage, as stepping-stones to his goal. People will tell each other he can never be trusted, no matter how he smiles or what promises he makes.

And yet, he's easy to trust. Keran is quick to smile, very sociable, friendly and polite. He knows almost all of his many soldiers by name, even those only recently hired into his service. He's personable and friendly even with his enemies, and always, always smiling. He's a good leader, confident, if a bit proud, and is always willing to speak to one of his soldiers as either a commander or a friend. Keran is very charismatic, very honorable, and never makes a promise he doesn't intend to keep.

The promises themselves are the problem. Often, Keran will make a newfound ally a promise, only to double back through a loophole without as much as a blink. He's never the one to point out the loopholes, of course, though he always plans his promises with a guaranteed out in case he happens to change his mind. Which is a rare occurance in and of itself; once Keran has made up his mind on a course of action, he rarely ever changes it.

Keran always seems to know exactly what's going on with everything, and only partly because of his massive network of spies, which is rumored to infest oher countries as much as it does Korin. The man knows how to read people like pages in a book. He's of the firm belief that people give themselves away with little actions, and so watches everyone he meets very closely. Of course, this comes with its own share of cynicism and paranoia, and though he almost never lets it show, he's constantly on alert for some form of attack against him. The trait is practically bred into all the heirs of Sarrca, and Keran is hardly the first man in his family to exhibit it.

He's also a family man, doting on Lynette and his three children with startling ferocity. When at home, he often spends time playing with or looking after his children, and always seems hesitant to leave home.

He regards almost all of life as a play solely for his entertainment; the difference is that in this play he makes the decisions on what happens, who lives, and who dies. Sometimes as a result he can seem slightly bored or disinterested in life in general, but almost always finds some way to make things amusing again.

Keran has long, dark hair, which he often ties back in a ponytail or braid to keep it out of his way. He has gold eyes, and his face seems to be lit with a perpetual smile or smirk. His angrier or more upset moments are few and far-between, and often those that are around to see them are not envied by their peers. Keran has a very slim frame, though he's not exceptionally tall, and his features are almost feminine in form: a long face and slim torso, along with long limbs for his height.
